Is A Quartz Worktop Right For Your Kitchen?

Date Posted: 7th May 2019

If you are planning for a new kitchen, you may be wondering which type of worktop is right for you.     The options, with colours and materials, can seem overwhelming,  That is why you should always consult with experts to assist you in making the right choice.

Consider how you will be using the kitchen worktop.  Will you be doing a lot of cooking?  Do you prepare all your ingredients from scratch, and need a surface that is going to stand up to hot pots and sharp knives.   Do you have small children that will mean a high gloss kitchen worktop will be a lot of work to maintain?

If this is the case you would not go far wrong in choosing a quartz worktop.    Quartz is a man-made alternative to materials like marble and granite, and as such it is a lot tougher and hard wearing.   Quartz is typically made of natural stone that is mixed with resins, polymers and pigments.     As part of this process, colours can be added to make the quartz even more impressive looking.

The Blanco Zeus quartz is the whitest quartz stone on the market.  It offers a beautiful clean looking finish, with the versatility that would suit a modern contemporary kitchen or a traditional style kitchen.    White quartz worktops also work well with smaller kitchens or kitchens with little natural light, as the stone reflects light making it feel more spacious and brighter.

Choosing the colour of your worktop is all a matter of taste.  Some choose to have a worktop that is the same colour as the flooring, where others choose to use colours that complement each other.  There are so many colour variations possible as each piece of quartz is unique slightly different tones and markings.

Over the last 10 years, quartz has become our best seller, as it offers the same luxurious feel as other natural stones but with the added benefits of being hard-wearing, antibacterial, easy to clean, and a wide variety of colours.   It is naturally resistant to staining and scratching and is heat resistant, but you may still need to use a heat protector.

Quartz kitchen worktops are an investment, and it is important to ensure that you look after the stone.   Read more on how to take care of quartz countertops.
